Privacy policy

This policy explains, in plain English, what The UK Play Exchange does with personal data. The site is a small, affiliate-funded editorial site; we collect very little, and we do not sell anything we collect.

Who is the data controller

The editor of The UK Play Exchange is the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You can reach us at editor@theukplayexchange.com.

What we collect

  • Server logs. Standard web-server logs of IP address, user-agent, requested URL and timestamp, kept for up to 30 days to detect abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests in keeping the site online.
  • Analytics. Aggregate, privacy-respecting page view statistics. No advertising profiles are built. Legal basis: consent, via the cookie banner.
  • Affiliate click data. When you click through to an operator we may record that a click happened (which operator, which page, which day) so we can be paid correctly. We do not collect your name, your account details with the operator, or anything you do once you are on the operator's site.
  • Contact form / email. If you write to us, we keep your message for as long as needed to handle it and for a reasonable correspondence history. Legal basis: legitimate interests / consent.

What we do not collect

We do not ask you to create an account on this site. We do not collect payment details, deposit details, identity documents, or anything to do with gambling activity. Anything related to your operator account stays with the operator under its own UKGC licence and privacy notice.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with the small set of processors needed to run the site (web host, email provider, analytics tool) under written contracts.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). To exercise any of these, write to editor@theukplayexchange.com.

Updates

If we change anything material in this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and note the change in the footer.
